​讀書期間，接觸最早的表示“蝦”的英文是shrimp，但小龍蝦卻不能用這個詞表示。

shrimp是指小型的水生有殼動物，可以使用，比對蝦小，烹飪的時候會變紅。

而電視劇里常出現(xiàn)的澳洲龍蝦和小龍蝦也不是同一個品種，大龍蝦常用lobster來表示。

龍蝦的頭胸部較粗大，外殼堅硬，色彩斑斕，腹部短小，體長一般在20～40厘米之間，重0.5公斤上下，是蝦類中最大的一類。最重的能達(dá)到5公斤以上，人稱龍蝦虎。
