我們常說的“糊了”來自英文單詞flop，flop在口語里常常有“徹底失敗”的含義：

The film flopped badly at the box office.

這部電影在票房上遭到慘敗。

現(xiàn)在延伸為“過氣”的意思，比如原本人氣很高的明星因為某些原因不再受歡迎，就可以用flop來形容ta。

flop的日式發(fā)音（フロップ，furoppu）很像胡蘿卜，然后大家就簡稱糊了，而且有時候我們會說某人炒作過度“炒著炒著就糊了”。糊了大致等同于“過時”、“無人問津”，這是一種更可怕的“過氣”�？梢杂靡韵逻@些詞來形容▼

1. on the wane

wane作動詞就有“衰減；減弱”的意思：

By the late 70s the band's popularity was beginning to wane.

上世紀70年代末，這支樂隊的人氣開始下滑。

作名詞wane表示“衰退；月虧；衰退期”，on the wane形容（權力、人氣等）衰落，減弱。

There are signs that support for the group is on the wane.

有跡象表明該黨的支持率正日益下降。

Sirenia的那首《Winter Land》中就唱到：

The summer sun is on the wane again

夏日的陽光又一次慢慢消沉

2. yesterday

在這里yesterday不是昨天，而指的是“近日，日前；往昔”。

Nobody's interested in yesterday's pop stars.

沒人對過氣明星感興趣。

It's better to be a has-been than a never-was.

寧可過氣，也不無聞。

3. has-been

它的意思是“過氣的名人，曾經(jīng)紅極一時的人物”。

That performer is a has-been.

那位演員曾經(jīng)紅過一陣子。

4. over the hill

hill是“小山，丘陵”的意思，over the hill就是翻過了山峰，習語意思就是過了巔峰期；在衰退中。

Nobody wants to think of themselves as over the hill.

沒有人希望自己在走下坡路。

5. be a nine days' wonder

17世紀初，英國作家伯頓（Bohn Henry G.）在其著作《Handbook of Proverbs》中寫到：

A wonder lasts but nine days，and then the puppy's eyes are open.

傳說小狗剛出生的時候雙目看不見東西，總覺得世界新奇，而九天后其眼睛睜開可視物了，眼前的世界卻不如想象中那樣美好。

be a nine days' wonder可以表示“曇花一現(xiàn)”。

As a pop star she was a nine days' wonder: she only made one successful record.

她是個曇花一現(xiàn)的歌星, 只錄制過一張受歡迎的唱片。
