怎么用英語形容兩個人完全不同，或者兩件事毫不相干呢？

你可以用distinct，意思是“明顯不同的，差別明顯的“。

強調(diào)的話，可以在前面加上quite/strikingly/sharply/entirely這些強調(diào)程度的副詞。

英語習(xí)語里還有這幾種表達——

①be another/a different kettle of fish

kettle是“燒水壺”的意思，put the kettle on就是開始燒水。

而kettle of fish是用來煮魚的水壺，這就很格格不入了。

這個習(xí)語的意思是“截然不同；完全兩回事”。

Having knowledge is one thing but being able to communicate it to others is another kettle of fish.

擁有知識是一回事，但能夠傳授給別人就完全是另一回事了。

②be a far cry from sth 和…相去甚遠，與…大相徑庭

2008年上映的恐怖電影《孤島驚魂》，英語名字就是Far Cry。

far cry可以形容遙遠的距離(或時間)，也形容大不相同的東西。

This flat is a far cry from the house they had before.

這間公寓和他們以前住的房子相去甚遠。

③be like chalk and cheese

chalk是粉筆，cheese是奶酪，這兩個從本質(zhì)上就沒有任何相同之處。所以形容“截然不同；迥異”。

My brother and I are like chalk and cheese.

我哥哥和我截然不同。

④be worlds apart

如果你說你和某人根本就是來自兩個不同的世界，那你想表達的就是你和他是完全不同的。

be worlds apart就形容“完全相反；截然不同”

They are worlds apart in their political views.

他們的政治觀點截然相反。

或者可以說poles apart，pole的意思是（地球的）極（點）。

這個習(xí)語有種南轅北轍的意思，也譯為“截然相反，大相徑庭”。
